Legal Disclosure – Children’s Services Act (CSA) Vendor Statement

1 STEP UP Mentoring & College & Career Success Program (“1 STEP UP”) operates as an independent youth mentoring, college readiness, and life-skills development organization. While 1 STEP UP may be registered or approved to provide services that are eligible for consideration under Virginia’s Children’s Services Act (CSA), participation in CSA does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or employment by the Commonwealth of Virginia, any local government agency, or any public school division.

CSA-funded services are not guaranteed and are determined solely through the local CSA process. All services must be formally referred, reviewed, and authorized by the appropriate local Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) and Community Policy and Management Team (CPMT) in accordance with Virginia CSA regulations. Eligibility, duration, service type, and funding decisions are made by the local CSA authority and may vary by locality. Families and youth may not self-authorize CSA-funded services.

Any references to CSA on this website are for informational purposes only and do not constitute a promise of funding, approval, or eligibility. Services provided outside of an approved CSA plan may be offered through private pay, school contracts, grants, or community partnerships.

1 STEP UP maintains professional, ethical, and confidentiality standards consistent with youth development and mentoring practices; however, mentoring services provided through 1 STEP UP do not replace clinical mental health treatment, medical services, legal advice, or licensed therapeutic care unless explicitly stated in a separately executed agreement.

By using this website or participating in services, families and partners acknowledge that 1 STEP UP functions as an independent vendor and that all CSA-related decisions are governed by state and local CSA policies.
